Pre-operation safety preparations
Personnel qualification: Only trained and authorized employees can operate the tree shredder. They must be familiar with the machine’s manual, operating procedures, and emergency stop methods.
Equipment inspection: Before each use, check the shredder’s components, including blades, belts, fasteners, and safety guards. Ensure there are no cracks, loose parts, or abnormal wear. Verify that the emergency stop button is functional.
Site arrangement: Clear the work area of debris, obstacles, and bystanders. Set up warning signs or barriers to prevent unauthorized personnel from entering. Ensure the site has good lighting and ventilation, especially for indoor operations.
Personal protective equipment (PPE): All operators and on-site personnel must wear mandatory PPE, including impact-resistant safety goggles, earplugs or earmuffs, heavy-duty work gloves, non-slip steel-toe boots, and a dust mask or respirator. Avoid wearing loose clothing, jewelry, or long hair that could get caught in the machine.

Operational safety guidelines
Material screening: Only feed suitable materials into the shredder, such as branches, leaves, and small logs. Avoid putting metal, plastic, rocks, or wet/rotten wood that could damage the machine or cause jams.
Feeding: Use a push stick to guide materials into the hopper instead of hands or feet. Keep body parts at least 30cm away from the feeding opening. Do not overload the machine; feed materials in small, manageable batches.
Operation monitoring: Stay focused during operation and do not leave the machine unattended. If you notice abnormal noises, vibrations, or jams, stop the machine immediately, disconnect the power source, and address the issue before resuming.
Power management: When starting the machine, ensure no one is near the feeding or discharge areas. Disconnect the power supply before performing maintenance, cleaning, or clearing jams.

Post-operation and emergency response
Equipment shutdown: After use, turn off the machine, disconnect the power, and wait for all moving parts to stop completely before cleaning or maintaining it. Remove any remaining materials from the hopper and discharge chute.
Maintenance and storage: Schedule regular maintenance, including blade sharpening, lubrication, and component replacement, according to the manufacturer’s recommendations. Store the shredder in a dry, locked area when not in use to prevent unauthorized access.
Emergency procedures: Establish clear emergency response protocols. In case of an accident, immediately stop the machine, provide first aid to the injured, and report the incident to the company’s safety management department. Keep a first-aid kit and fire extinguisher near the work area.
Training and drills: Conduct regular safety training and emergency drills for all relevant personnel to ensure they can respond quickly and correctly to potential hazards.
